About The Black Bull

Welcome,

The management team consists of Tom & Bridget whose vision for the pub is to be the heart of the community providing a warm, friendly atmosphere and offering great food at a reasonable price.

The Black Bull is steeped in history – an old coach house situated not many miles from the RAF camp at Scampton and it was well known as the ‘local haunt’ of Guy Gibson and his Dambuster colleagues. Guy Penrose Gibson was the first CO of the Royal Air Forces 617 Squadron, which he led in the Dam Busters raid in 1943, resulting in the destruction of two large dams in the Ruhr area. He was awarded the Victoria Cross and died later in the war.

There have been many reports that the Black Bull is haunted and there have been inexplicable sounds believed to be an unseen ghost walking up the 18 stairs to the restaurant and many items are never where they were left.

We hope you enjoy your visit to The Black Bull Pub in Welton.
